A SALUTE TO THE MOST FAMOUS CLUB IN THE WORLD:
THE CAVERN CLUB, LIVERPOOL — THE BIRTHPLACE OF THE BEATLES

WHAT:On April 24th, BritWeek has chosen to launch its annual event in Beverly Hills with a world premiere presentation of the new 60th anniversary documentary film, The Cavern Club: The Beat Goes On, a documentary, presented by Paul McGann and featuring a host of stars, including Sir Paul McCartney. The film takes viewers on a fascinating rollercoaster ride through the life of the club dubbed ‘the cradle of British pop music.’

Everyone knows the Cavern was home to the Beatles, Gerry & the Pacemakers, The Searchers, The Hollies, Billy J Kramer and Cilla Black, but did you know that the Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kinks, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Ben E King, Rod Stewart, Status Quo, Queen and even Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley played there?

The documentary will be screened at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills. Newly installed Mayor of Beverly Hills, John Mirisch will welcome John Lennon’s sister, Julia Baird, who will introduce the documentary.

Following the film, attendees can stay at The Wallis to get a taste of the Beatles' iconic flare with a live performance by the incredible Cavern Club Beatles the first and only resident band endorsed by the Cavern Club.

Bill Heckle, owner of The Cavern Club, said, “With the Cavern Club Beatles, we have changed a long-held belief that the Cavern shouldn’t endorse a Beatles band. We do so simply because they are in an elite class of performers who uniquely capture the magic of the best band that ever lived.”
