INTEGRAL MAN MAKES ITS AMERICAN DEBUT AT THE ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN FILM FESTIVAL IN NEW YORK

New York, NY – October 12, 2017 – Following its tremendous appraisal at the Canadian Hot Docs film festival, Integral Man is set to make its first American debut at the Architecture & Design Film Festival from November 1 - November 5, 2017. The documentary has left a resounding impression among Canadian audiences and is expected to have the same effect at its American premiere.

Music, life, architecture and decline are flawlessly sewn together to alert audiences of the pleasures and dangers of a fully personalized world—a world that is the Integral House. The man behind the lens, Joseph Clement, directs the film in such a way that moves audiences with the visually intriguing Integral House inhabited by the film’s main character, James Stewart. A mathematician and inspiring musician, Stewart dwells in the massive 17,000-square-foot house as audiences are welcomed in to witness Stewart’s life unfolding.

"This film is about digestion, time and observation so it's a piece that moves at a pace that is dissimilar to a lot of current film work. Through the use of 35mm as a tool to explore the actuality of light as a manifestation of space and music and sound as a way of digesting space, it operates as a medium to both separate the audience from their current state of time/pace and yet open a place for them to witness and slow to a pace that allows for that digestion, time and observation to be understood." – Joseph Clement

Integral Man fearlessly captures Stewart’s suffering and his rapid physical decline. – The Globe and Mail

Look at Integral Man’s one subplot in the greater “story of the Integral House,” and it becomes a fascinating look at art, obsession, and the insurmountable challenges of making the deeply personal universal. – The Walrus

About Integral Man:
After Euclid, Toronto’s Jim Stewart is the most published mathematician in the world. Stewart spent a decade and a small fortune building the home of his dreams to reflect his two obsessions: curves and music. The completed home, called Integral House, provides him with both. A stunning architectural gem of subtly curved wood and vast, evocative spaces, the house stands in Toronto’s Rosedale neighborhood and is considered by many to be one of the city’s best performance spaces. There, Stewart takes joy in hosting his trademark musical evenings with world-class guests, including the likes of Grammy–nominated Canadian soprano Measha Brueggergosman. It ultimately delivers a finely crafted portrait of Stewart and his beloved home.
