Hooper C. Dunbar was raised in Los Angeles, absorbing the adventure and creativity of old Hollywood. Dunbar’s artwork has transformational elements of spirituality, unity, and nature, while interweaving spontaneity and movement. His gestalt technique encourages the viewer to delve behind the surface into the inner landscape of the artist’s mind and soul. Dunbar’s handling of paint creates an ethereal sense of light both permeating the works and radiating outwards. Drawing on his decades-long involvement with Baha’i teachings, in the tradition of Mark Tobey, he sees himself as a spiritual abstract expressionist.

Dunbar’s work is included in many private and corporate collections in London, New York, Sydney, Verona, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, and Israel. In 2016, Dunbar had ten paintings featured in Art Silicon Valley, San Mateo. His paintings are permanently exhibited at the United Nations Offices of the Baha'i International Community (BIC) and the executive offices of SOHO in Beijing.
