SOULJOURN YOGA HOSTS INSPIRING INDIA,
A YOGA RETREAT OF GRATITUDE AND GIVING BACK

LOS ANGELES – September 13, 2018Souljourn Yoga Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness and funds for girls’ education in developing countries across the globe through the healing practice of yoga, is hosting its fourth yoga retreat this year, titled “Inspiring India.”

The retreat will benefit the My Name is Kumar Foundation, an organization that enables the education and development of underprivileged children and their families located in begging cities in Southern India in order to break the cycle of poverty in the region. In addition to volunteer experience with My Name is Kumar, the retreat will include a $300 tax-deductible donation to the foundation.

Join Chelsea Gilson of The Women’s Travel Co, Alyce Biddle of My Name is Kumar Foundation, and Souljourn Yoga Foundation founder Jordan Ashley on a life-changing journey to discover the rich culture and vibrant beauty of India.

On this fully-immersive 10-day adventure, attendees will spend time sailing around the beautiful Kerala backwaters, exploring the ancient ruins of Thanjavur, and ringing in the New Year with a special meditation session, alongside daily yoga practice. Attendees will also get the unique opportunity to connect with the girls of My Name is Kumar through jewelry-making, henna design, and dancing workshops, all while experiencing the local culture and making a true impact.

Each donation to My Name is Kumar will go toward creating a yearlong program of activities for secondary school-aged girls, aiming to increase confidence, inspire, and educate about topics the girls otherwise wouldn’t learn in school. Living out its mission statement of seva, the Sanskrit word and yogic principle of selfless service, Souljourn yoga offers guests the opportunity to help a community of girls often limited by the barriers that society, their families, and even the education system places on them on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure in the beautiful cultural landscape of India.

The Inspiring India retreat runs December 28, 2018 – January 7, 2019. Rates vary based on accommodation selections.
