Charleston, SC  – With CBS’ new drama series, Reckless, premiering on Sunday, June 29, the city of Charleston, SC will prove to viewers it offers much more than Southern hospitality. The city is central to the series’ storyline and will allow viewers the opportunity to experience Charleston like never before.

Reckless, which is the first major network series to be filmed in Charleston, follows a Yankee litigator (Anna Wood) and a charming Southern attorney (Cam Gigandet) who must hide their intense mutual attraction as a police sex scandal threatens to tear the city apart.

Prominent locations across the city where the show filmed include:

Charleston City Hall: Cam Gigandet’s character is appointed District Attorney in the pilot episode at Charleston City Hall and many scenes take place there throughout the series.
Charleston County Courthouse: All exterior courthouse scenes take place at the Charleston County Courthouse and the interiors were built on the soundstage used by CBS in nearby North Charleston.
Washington Square Park: Catch a peek of Washington Square Park, one of Charleston’s most gorgeous parks, in various episodes.
Fountain Walk: Charleston’s Fountain Walk, part of the Aquarium wharf area that offers a spectacular views of the harbor, was used as the Police Headquarters throughout the series.
Arthur Ravenel Bridge: Named after the former U.S. Congressman from Charleston, viewers will spot this iconic bridge, the longest cable-stay bridge in the country, in the season premiere.

 

“We are thrilled that the Reckless cast and crew have found a home in Charleston and welcomed it as a main character of the show,” said Duane Parrish, Director of South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism. ”The series really highlights all that the city has to offer and showcases the city’s diversity throughout the season.”

Additionally, Reckless boosted the local economy in Charleston. $6.5 million in wages were paid to South Carolina residents that worked on the show, and local vendors made $9.7 million from purchases made while the show was in production. Over 16,000 lodging nights were booked at local hotels, 90 South Carolina residents were hired continuously over six months, working 14 hours per day, and 1,275 people were hired for single day work including actors, extra, police department, fire department, medics and more.
